Flies, while generally harmless to humans and pets, become a threat once an infestation takes hold. In large numbers, flies can carry diseases like salmonella, E. coli, and cholera, contaminate food and drinks with fecal matter, and breed quickly. Fly larvae only need about three weeks to develop from eggs to adults, making early detection and extermination crucial before the problem escalates.
At Strib Pest Management, our experienced exterminators specialize in identifying and eliminating various fly species native to Wisconsin. Our environmentally-friendly fly removal treatments ensure we address the specific type of infestation in your home or commercial building. When you choose Strib, you’re choosing straightforward, effective pest control, no gimmicks, just results.
Egg clusters – House flies lay their eggs in filthy, moist areas like damp corners in kitchens or bathrooms.
Maggots – Fly eggs hatch into maggots or small, worm-like white larvae, often found in the same filthy, moist areas where the eggs were laid.
Numerous flies indoors – If flies are breeding inside your home, you’ll notice large numbers appearing regularly, and they won’t disappear without professional intervention
Blow (bottle) flies are metallic green, blue, or copper, ranging in size from ¼ inch to ⅜ inch. They spend the warm summer months nesting in homes or buildings attracted by food odors, air currents from cracks around windows and doors, or doors opened for ventilation. Garbage bins, dumpsters, and rotting vegetative matter are their favorite breeding grounds.
Cluster flies are black and medium-sized, growing up to ⅜ inch long. They infest warm buildings to survive the winter by swarming the southern and western walls in early autumn and nesting in crevices through the winter.
Face flies are dark gray with four stripes on top of the thorax and about ¼ inches long. They retreat to the warm crevices and cracks of heated buildings during the winter.
Fruit flies are tan or brown with red eyes about ⅛ inch in length. They are generally carried into homes on fruits and vegetables and love food preparation environments like home kitchens, restaurants, supermarkets, food plants, and any other food processing facility. Indoors, fruit flies nest in trash and recycling containers, leftover food, dirty coolers, and garbage disposals.
